What are the OSHA porta potty requirements?
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 Table D-1 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers at 20 or more, and 1 seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers at 200 or more. In Maricopa County, the county rule of 1 per 20 within 200 feet is stricter.
Where there is no sanitary sewer, OSHA allows chemical toilets unless local code prohibits them. Mobile crews with ready transport to nearby toilets are exempt.
OSHA's 2006 interpretation letter says a toilet that is unsanitary or too far away does not count as "provided," and points to ANSI Z4.3 for weekly servicing of a unit used by up to 10 people.
